Why see Whiskey Myers?

Tornillo tour

The Palestine, TX-based Southern rock and Red Dirt country band are hitting the road in 2024, in support of their latest effort, Tornillo. First formed in 2008 by lead Cody Jennings and his friend Cody Tate, they took inspiration from the musical stylings of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., and Waylon Jennings, but soon moved into formulating their own unique take on Southern rock music. Their biggest single to date, Ballad of a Southern Man, was spawned by their second album, Firewater in 2011. Created whilst holed up at the famous Sonic Ranch in Texas, Tornillo is the group's 6th studio album and is set for full release in July this year.

The seven-piece band comprises Jennings on vocals and acoustic guitar, Tate on lead guitar and backing vocals, guitarist and backing vocalist John Jeffers, bassist Gary Brown, drummer Jeff Hogg, percussionist Tony Kent and Jon Knudson on keyboard and fiddle.

Absolutely Fantastic!

There was nothing wrong with the acoustics in that theater, the problem was the speaker system. Even though it was not top-notch it was still good enough to enjoy a really great concert by an extremely talented group of musicians. They came out and said in the beginning that they going to put a deeper edge to these songs and that's exactly what they did. I thought they were incredible I would buy that CD, vinyl or Blu-ray in a heartbeat and I would go see that show again. If I wanted to hear the songs exactly the way that they were done on CD or vinyl I would have stayed home and listened to them that way. The fact that they did these with a hard edge, heavier rock edge I was pure genius. Well done guys!! ... Read more
